Where I have been….

March 3, 2010
  • To the Pediatrician’s Office after Anabelle had gastroenteritis and the worst diaper rash imaginable….so bad that she wouldn’t sit in the bathtub cause the water hurt her tush.
  • Ignoring a temper tantrum.
  • At home with my sick child.
  • To another city 40 miles away for a surgery rotation every day that my child wasn’t sick.
  • To the Pediatrician’s office because Anabelle had a temperature of 103 and a diagnosis of Roseola.
  • Out of gas on the ramp of the freeway with a toddler on my hip and then in the car of the Florida Highway Patrol.
  • Crossing a parking lot, with a toddler on my hip and a tank of gas in the other hand.
  • Ignoring a temper tantrum.
  • Telling a stranger that I do not need help.

  • Pulling a 27 hour shift at the hospital where I had to give palliative end of life care to a cancer patient and his family.
  • Sleeping!
  • Taking Dayquil
  • Driving 40 miles away every day for a surgery rotation at another hospital.
  • Pulling another 27 hour shift.
  • Taking Nyquil
  • Sleeping!

  • To my doctor’s office so I could get a Zpack/antibiotics  for myself to get over the chronic sinus infection/throbbing pain in my skull.
  • At home sick with my sick child.
  • To the Pediatrician’s office AGAIN for my baby to get antibiotics for a sinus infection AND pink eye (same day!)
  • Ignoring a temper tantrum.
  • Picking up a prescription for antibiotics for said infections at Target, where I CAN NEVER GO AGAIN, unless in disguise.
  • Ignoring a temper tantrum.
  • Telling a stranger that I DO NOT NEED HELP.  In my mind.
  • Holding a baby on my hip while I made dinner for the family and cleaned the house.
  • Washing dishes and myself during baby naptime.
  • Holding a baby on my hip while I chose an outfit, blow dried my hair and put makeup on.

  • In the parking lot of some random church dressed to the nines in heels determined to go for a  Girls Night Out.
  • OUT OF GAS AGAIN!!!
  • Rescued by two strapping, handsome young men (one of them my husband) with a tank of gas.
  • Finally having dinner with one of my best friends and catching up, reminiscing about old times and talking about the future.
  • VERY happy that I have my friends, family and Dave to get me through these crazy times.

Disclaimer:

  • I cursed the gas/odometer repeatedly for lying to me and telling me there was gas when there was in fact NONE!
  • I am now an expert at temper tantrums!

Goodness me, you’ve had quite a time of it haven’t you? Hope that the coming weeks will be less stressful. I’ll be off for a couple days when you get here and I’ll be happy to help with any temper tantrums 😉 Hope you and Anabelle are both feeling better. Love you.

Um . . .I would have helped you even if you said you didn’t need help. I know a mother in need! I’ve been there!
