Old Town USA

July 4, 2010

Happy Birthday USA!

Well, belated birthday, that is!

What is the best way to celebrate the birth of Independence?

How about…

Cooped up in a hotel room (on the beach for that matter) while it rains all day long?!

Well that is what we did!

We spent the weekend in St. Augustine, FL.  I mean, we only planned it a MONTH in advance to celebrate birthdays (Mine and Dave’s and America’s).  Wasn’t that enough time to notify Mother Nature?!

We managed to escape for two hour increments to play on the beach and to tour the city.

If I just sneak up on this seagull, maybe he will show me where Nemo is.

Facts about St. Augustine:

It’s the oldest town in the country and has one of the biggest firework displays in the state, next to Disney maybe.

There are forts and monuments and hotels that are some of the oldest concrete structures in America and took 23 years to build.  I mean I can’t imagine anything taking that long…Except maybe a medical education…or raising children.

Anabelle escaping from the Fort.

We also managed to miss fireworks both in our hometown and St Augustine…thank goodness for the biggest small town firework displays.  When we got home we loaded Anabelle and our 3 beach chairs and walked 1 mile to get the best view.

Needless to say, we took lots of pictures.

And Anabelle really cheeses!
